Notice of Adopted Changes to School Board Member Districts
Leon County Schools has 5 school board member districts that are required to be evaluated after each U.S. Census to ensure that each district is equal in population. This evaluation has led to proposed changes. The proposed school board member district map does not impact school attendance zones. It does not impact where your child attends school. It only impacts which school board member district you may vote in. After numerous public meetings, the board approved a revised school board member district map. School Board Member Redistricting
The Leon County School Board includes five members who are each elected from a single member district. Florida Statute requires that after each census year the board members evaluate the districts and readjust boundaries in order to provide five single member districts that are relatively equal in population. Following the 2010 census, the Superintendent has appointed a committee to review data, hear public input and make recommendations to the school board to realign school board member districts based on population changes. This website is a public portal for information on this process. All information and meetings are public.
